Client: Diebold Incorporated

Challenge: Diebold had some great products and services to offer the financial industry. But before they could pick up more business from big banks across the U.S., they were going to have to get this news in front of the big decision makers. And, more importantly, get these busy executives to take the time to read it.

Solution: Picking up on Diebold's Ultimate Guarantee all products and services guaranteed or replacement or repair is free. Then, to give authority to this sales message, we drew on other recognized ultimate products. We co-branded with Pizza Hut, creator of the Ultimate Pizza, designing a mailing carton as a custom pizza box with the message "Diebold Direct Delivers the Ultimate Guarantee". Inside was an Ultimate Frisbee imprinted with the Diebold Direct phone number and web address. Nestled inside the Frisbee was a full color collateral piece with graphics of a pizza, detailing Diebold’s different products and services. The "hook" was an offer to let Diebold quote on the bank's next contract in return for $15.00 in Pizza Hut gift certificates.

Results: Within the first two weeks of the promotion a couple banks bit, requesting Diebold to quote on their supply contract. In the following weeks, Diebold had a 12% response rate from 23 customers, which led to a potential of more than $440,000 in new revenue. The interest was for a variety of products including coin & cash handling products, ATM ribbons, ATM receipt paper, and VAT carriers.
